Introducing the gaff

A community space for young people in Forres

The Gaff gives young people aged 11–16 a place to belong — with regular sessions offering games, crafts, support and social connection in a relaxed, non-judgemental environment.

Who Are We?

The Gaff is a youth space project created for young people aged 11–16 who live in or attend school within the Forres Academy catchment area. We’re here to offer a safe, welcoming environment to hang out, have fun, and feel at home.

What Do We Offer?

Across two amazing venues, you’ll find a place to meet friends, get involved in activities, and enjoy your downtime. From pool and gaming to arts, crafts, and board games — there’s something for everyone.

When and Where?

We run two sessions a week during term time. Join us on Saturdays at St Leonard’s Church Hall or Wednesdays at Forres Community Centre for our midweek wellbeing hangout.

Our Journey

Since launching in 2023, we’ve worked closely with Transition Town Forres, FACT, and other local groups to grow The Gaff. These partnerships help us deliver great sessions in great spaces while we work towards securing a permanent home.

Join Us

If you’re between 11 and 16, you’re welcome to come along to any session. We can’t wait to meet you — The Gaff is your space to be yourself, learn, relax, and connect.

Upcoming Events

We’ve planned some exciting sessions and special events designed to bring people together, try new things, and have fun in a safe, friendly space. Take a look at what’s coming up — we’d love to see you there.

Who can come to The Gaff?

The Gaff is open to all young people aged 11–16 who live in or attend school in the Forres Academy catchment area.

Yes. All young people need to complete a membership form before joining. You can do this easily online — just head to our Parental Consent page and fill out the form with the help of a parent or carer.

We’re introducing a simple “donate what you can” contribution at each of our youth sessions (Wednesdays and Saturdays). This small donation per session helps us keep The Gaff running, so we can continue to provide a safe, fun and welcoming space for young people aged 11-16 in Forres.

We recommend £1 per session, but there’s no set fee – we know times are tough, so families and young people can give whatever feels manageable. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.

We run two youth sessions per week during term time:

  • Wednesdays at Forres Community Centre (6–8pm)

  • Saturdays at St Leonard’s Church Hall (6–8.30pm)

We also run extra events and activities throughout the year at different venues. Check out our What’s On page to see what’s coming up.

Absolutely! The Gaff is supported by a team of volunteers, trustees, and youth workers. If you’d like to help, you can apply to become a volunteer and support young people in Forres.
